ROMEO AND JULIET
Wrote this for English B, when we did Shakespeare. Best time ever. A lot of things make more sense if you have read the play or evern seen one of the movies. This isnt the whole thing and of course I played Romeo!
Prologue
Two households both alike in dignity
In fail Verona where we lay our scene…
Never mind, you know this already…One boy, one girl, fall in forbidden love and commit suicide.
Start the show!
Oh right, it takes place in Italy.
BALCONY SCENE
Romeo- Oh I must be in love, but what! What? (schhhhh) What is that over there? Oh it is my lady, it is my love! She shines like the sun, and I forgot my sunglasses. No, she is far more prettier than the sun. She is saying something! Maybe I should answer? But maybe it’s not me she is talking to. But then again, who wouldn’t? (Shrugs and smirks)
Juliet- (to herself) Oh me! (nurse calls) Oh I’m coming!
Romeo- She speaks! Oh say something else bright angel!
Juliet- Romeo! (clears throat) Romeo, Romeo where are you Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name…
Romeo- Oh, call me whatever you want whatever you will, call me Eric or even Phil!
Juliet- What? Who’s there? Romeo is that you?
Romeo- Yes fair Juliet it is me!
Juliet - Where?
Romeo- over here my love!
Juliet- It’s too dark I can’t see you!
Romeo- Listen, I’m over here!
Juliet- Where? Seriously I cannot see theee!
Romeo- Oh good Lord! I’m right here! Did you forget your contacts again? Maybe that’s why your eyes shine in an odd way, put them on, I’ll wait for thee my love!
Juliet -(puts on contacts) Oh Romeo I see you now! And you look beautiful!
Romeo- I know, I know….now go ahead carry on.
Juliet- Do you love me? I(nurse calls) I’ll be right there!
I know you will say yes and I will believe it but you could confess your love and lie..
Romeo- Lady I swear by the moon, the silver moon…
Juliet- Don’t swear by the moon!!!!!!!!!!
Romeo – what shall I swear by then? The sun?
Juliet- Skin cancer?
Romeo- (thinks) I swear on the ground on which we walk…
Juliet- Dirt? Dirt?!!! (nurse calls) Oh for goodness sake I’ll be right there!!
Romeo- Oh, for crying out loud Juliet! We have done this play over a hundred times! You know this, now play along!
Juliet- well maybe I’m tired of dying every single time because you screw up and kill yourself!
Romeo- Oh, so it’s my fault?! (sigh) Juliet I love you, is that now enough? Our love?
Juliet- yes it is but I wish we could live, just this once and break this stupid curse. (nurse calls) Oh for the love of all that’s holy! ONE SECOND!
Romeo- I tell you what, this time we will, I swear by the moon that we shall live this time!
Juliet- Oh Romeo! So you will hurry back when they finish you? After you kill Tybalt? Or maybe you wont have to leave Verona at all?
Romeo- I have to leave, they will find me and slay me if I do not. But maybe you shouldn’t swallow that herb the friar gives you?
Juliet- (nurse calls) Oh, please shut up one minute!
But I must take it, if not I must marry Paris….eww.
Romeo- well, then there is nothing for us to do I’m afraid.
But wait! Oh I’m a genius! (does the genius dance) Drink it as soon as you get it so you will be awake by the time I get back to you!
Juliet- Yes! Oh we shall break this curse once and for all Romeo! I must go to bed now. Good night, good night.
Romeo- sleep tight, peace in thy breast!
Juliet- (nurse calls) WHAAAAT!????!
