Strangers offering sweets
Anyone with experience?
Growing up, my mother never gave me the-stay-away-from-strangers-lecture. And maybe she didn't have to. Not only was I afraid of animals, or any other moving objects (still am) I was afraid of people (still am). So there was no need to warn me about going off with anyone I didn't know.
With that being said I have to say I was very lucky and fortunate not to have been in that situation. You know "hey there kid, do you want some of this candy? Well get into the car and I will give you some" sorta thing. No one ever offered me anything promiscuous in exchange for food (...apart from last night). But I have been thinking about it and I came to realize that I would, I would get into a car if the driver offered me candy, sweets or anything edible for that matter. I would have been one of those kids who made headlines and later having people later talk about how stupid I was (still am):
"Body of a young girl found in back alley. Had taken a small bite of a dark chocolate bar"
yeah that would have been my death, lured with candy only to find out its dark chocolate.... typical.
I wouldn't react like normal people: stranger and candy = danger.
I would be more like: stranger and free candy = I'm so there.
Ok maybe I'm not as easy as one might think, I would have asked what it was first. I mean if it was dark choclate I would probably just walk away, but if it was something I liked, milk chocolate with nuts, well....I would not have been alive today.
Seriously. who would say no to chocolate?
